15th Arkansas Calvary

My great-great-uncle, Crockett Boone, was paroled in San Antonio, Texas on Oct. 16, 1865. He was originally with the 15th Arkansas (Northwest) Infantry, with his brother, Col. Squire Boone, who commanded the regiment at Cornith. His San Antonio Parole Document clearly says he is from Franklin County, Ark., which he was; and that he was a member of the 15th Arkansas Calvary. Does anyone know anything about the 15th Arkansas Calvary? Crockett Boone was captured at Vicksburg and paroled on July 9, 1863. After the 15th Arkansas Infantry was disbanded, did he and other members join the 15th Calvary? And if he was paroled at San Antonio, can I assume he had been in a Union prison at the time? Why would he have been paroled some six months after the end of the Civil War? Any information will be appreciated.
