In Feb. 1864, a battalion of the 14th KS Cav commanded by Maj Willetts was at Ft Gibson in the Cherokee Nation. The balance of Moonlight's 14th KS Cav was a Ft Smith under Lt Col Brown. From limited info I can find, Brown moved into the Choctaw Nation and was to rendevous with Col Wm. A. Phillips (and Willetts). Phillips reported he left grain for Brown at North Fork Town (near present Eufaula OK) but never heard from Brown. Brown was recalled to Ft Smith. Col Moonlight was apparently absent from his command and I believe never returned to the 14th.

I'm looking for info on the movements of Brown's battalion(s) into the Choctaw Nation and when/where they had any encounter with the enemy.
