Robert Strong AR Cavalry

Hello, I am looking for information on a Robert Strong. He was my Great Grandfathers brother. He had an older brother in the LA 12th infantry and his father was in the LA 4th Cavalry. I listed a record I found in the Louisiana Secretary of State Confederate Pension Applications. I know Robert lived in Caliborne Parish LA on the family farm during the war. He didn't turn 17 until Feb. 1865. I would have tought he would have been to young to join but according to the record I found he did serve. I figure since he had a father, brother and two brother in laws in the CSA army he was eager to join up too. Can anyone tell me anything about this Robert Strong? I am puzzled why he would be listed in a unit from AR when he lived in LA and all of his kinfolfs were in LA units. Oh, their farm was very close to the AR border but I still would have thought he would have joinrd a group from LA.
