With the previous postings I think the chances are good that your Geo W. was indeed the man in Co A Crawford's Ark Cav. Since that unit served as an independent company through most of 1863 it could have fallen under Slemmon's or McMurtrey, both formerly of the 2nd Ark Cav. Since his record shows him present Feb 1864, he evidently did not die per family history in 1861 or 62...however, since family tradition has him passing away in Missouri or NW Ark then it is entirely plausible he was a casualty of the fighting of Price's Mo raid. Crawford's regiment was part of Slemmon's brigade and it saw quite a lot of action from Pilot Knob in Sept up through the fiasco later on at Wesport and the battles in Kansas. If your Geo W was married to Catherine and the birth date is about right, then I think he must have died in 1864.
