A Platte Co., MO merchant. Married Maria Louisa Lee 7-20-1850 Platte County. 1st Lt. Co. K, 1st MO Cav, 12-31-61. Lt. Col. 10th, 1-11-63. KIA Battle of Independence, in Price's Raid, 1864. Probably son or close relative of Merritt Lee Young (1792-1865) of Woodford Co. and his wife Betsy Barry.
