I find no records for the 6th Arkansas Cavalry. Both brothers originally enlisted in the 1st (Monroe's) Arkansas cavalry.

Davis and James M. O'Neil.

Regiment was also called the 6th Arkansas Cavalry Regiment and 1st
Arkansas Trans-Mississippi Cavalry Regiment.

The regiment was organized in May 1861 and contained men from Izard and
Carroll counties. Attached to Cabell's brigade, it fought at Cane Hill,
Prairie Grove, Fayetteville and Marks' Mills where 13 were killed and 23 wounded.

The regiment later skirmished in Arkansas and disbanded in May 1865.

1st (Fagan's-Monroe's) Cavalry Regiment [also called 6th and 1st Arkansas Trans-Mississippi Cavalry], organized by Colonel J. F. Fagan in May, 1861, contained men from Izard and Carroll counties. On 11/17/1863 he mustered into "B" Co. AR 4th Cavalry
He was discharged (date not stated)

died 12/19/1913 in Amity, AR
(Applied for a pension in 1894)
