Hello I live in the town that has the camp nelson cemetery but i know this isn't the original site. It was moved in the early 1900's by war veterans from a site in the woods with small wooden stakes. My guess is that they didn't have the energy to bury the dead far away from the original camp hope/ camp nelson site. Do you know the whereabouts of the original camp, Maybe even an old map of the area? The road the cemetery is located on is called campground. It couldn't be far off from the cemetery now. I don't think they would move their already dead men miles and miles. I've been searching the local library but it just has so much stuff to look through. I did however find pictures of old confederate veterans. I was thinking maybe northwest from the current location because that is towards memphis....
