Soldiers of African Descent question
I know this is the Arkansas board but hopefully Jim will indulge me a bit. I am currently reading "Team of Rivals" by Doris Goodwin. In the book the author makes the claim that 180,000 men of African descent served in the Union Army. I have read other claims that there were 250,000 black soldiers.
Can someone tell me the actual number of "Colored" Union Soldiers? Thanks in advance.
