After reading this thread, I think that the Henry Rodgers buried in Marianna, Ark. is NOT the relation you may be looking for. My (birth certificate) name is Henry Preston Rodgers IV, I was born on November 3, 1937, in Alton, Ill. My father, Henry Preston Rodgers III, was born in Marianna Arkansas on February 9, 1908, and so could not have been the person buried in Marianna, at any date before that date... he was actually buried in Godfrey, Illinois in 1971. However, my Grandfather Henry Preston Rodgers II lived much of his life in Marianna, and was buried there, BUT it is probably my GREAT Grandfather Henry Preston I that you are thinking of, as he was born in 1844 (in Illinois) was a major landowner in Marianna, Lee County Ark, served two terms in the Ark. state legislature, and is buried in the Marianna cemetary, probably about the date you mention, early in the twentieth century. My Great-Great, Henry I's father, was Ebenezer Rodgers, a prominent Baptist minister in Arkansas, Missouri and Southern Illinois, who was born in Monmouth, Monmouthshire, Wales in the 18th century, and emigrated to the U.S. We did have relatives who came to the U.S. a few years earlier than Ebenezer (perhaps brothers), one or more of whom apparently served as officers under G. Washington during the Revolution.
