The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Major Micajah R. Wilson, 1BN, AR Infantry

Message for Bryan:

I am attempting to update the Fort Delaware Society database entry for Major Micajah R. Wilson, 1st Battalion, Arkansas Infantry but could find nothing on him in terms of records. I checked the NPS Index to the Compiled Military Service Records, Footnote.com's digital images of the CMSR, and finally the Gerdes Arkansas database without success.

We know that he was captured at Port Hudson and sent to Johnson's Island. From there, he was sent to Fort Delaware. Our information about him comes from the Immortal 600 work done by J Ogden Murray. He arrived at Fort Delaware on 23 JUN 1864. He was sent away as part of the Immortal 600 in August 1864 and returned with the survivors in March 1865. He was finally released under General Orders No. 109 upon receiving his Presidential Pardon at Fort Delaware on 24 JUL 1865.

Do you have any information on this Arkansas officer beyond this? Is there a CMSR for him under some misfiling of his record?

I also need to update your e-mail address. Please contact me at society@fortdelaware.org.
