Dick,

I am working on this group of letters with a direct descendant of one of the 4 brothers. I am editing them with hopes of getting a publisher interested in time for the 150th of the War here in Arkansas. THe letters are quite extensive among not only the brothers and their immediate family but also extended family in Kansas and Tenn. Three fought for the South and all died, one fought for the North and is the reason all the letters were preserved. The letters cover from pre Wilson's Creek through the end of the Union soldier's term was up in 1865. Units these soldiers served with were Woodruff's ARtillery, 2nd Ark Mtd Rifles, 11th Ark Inf, 20th Ark Inf and 24th Mo Inf (US)so I will have to keep working on them to get them edited etc and hopefully can get them published in book form. It gives a great insight into the division even among close families. The soldiers even tried to maintain contact across the lines as well, which was hard no doubt. I don't have them all done so can't provide them yet, but will look and see if anything really jumps out at me for the one in 2nd Mtd Rifles.
