Linda, an index of U.S. pension applications from Arkansas lists a John W. Wilkerson, who applied in 1895, citing service in the 1st Arkansas Cavalry, U.S. Volunteers. However, there is no record of him serving in this regiment. I don't know what to make of this entry.
