I recently came across some information that suggests a Martin Butler was a deserter from Reid's Battery in 1861. The only Martin Butler who I can find in the 1860 census is a 44 year old clergyman living in Kings River Township, Carroll County. He seems an unlikely candidate, so has anyone any idea who this Martin Butler might be?
