Hello. Just a wild idea of mine, but was this person possibly injured at Shiloh?
That was such a big battle and lots of Confedeates were wounded and then the wounded were dragged off by the Confederates military going south. Don't you just know that was a terrible happening!
According to what I was told earlier by you, that my ggg uncle who was with the 10th and company D, Owen Guthrie was "shot at Shiloh on April 6 and died of his wounds at Corinth, Mississippi, before April 30, 1862." Being young and strong, don't you just know that was a hard death.
Would the records have said if this person in question was wounded and then died of wounds somewhere along the way or does it just leave you to guess what did happen to this person? Sick could have been almost anything in my mind, from mental stres to being shot with no thought of recovery.
Understand now, my understanding is not that great, but Tupelo and Cornith are in the same general areas of northwestern Mississippi and are about 40 or so miles apart.
As you can tell, since I found out that Michael Owen Guthrie and apparently two other of his brothers were with the 10th Arkansas, I now have a new group to follow.
This is just my input and still an almost question.
