I would consider that a true evaluation of the situation considering I know how my kin were treated. I also know Yankee was always said as if it were a curse word and that best describes it. A stray dog would have been worth more than a Yankee was the general feeling, I would say.
That was an excellent piece. It certainly gives a lot of information relating to the whole area west of the Mississippi.
