I am looking for information about my 3rd Greatgrand father, William Stout. The 1860 census has him living in Randolph, Co. AR, b. 1828, TN. There is a William Stout listed as enlisting in the 38th AR, Co. H, in July 1862 at Pocahontas, AR. Family history tells of him serving with Col. Reves' 15th MO Cav. CSA. I have also found a William Stout serving with the 15th MO Cav. Co. F. Are both of these the same man? I have utilize history-sites.com to get military records on other ancestors but would like to narrow it down to see if I should look up the records for William Stout in the 38th AR or the 15th MO.
