I guess a reporter's story is only as good as her sources.

I was always a big fan of Mrs. Ross, beginning in college. For years she had a regular Arkansas history/genealogy column in the Arkansas Gazette. It was a dark day when the Gazette dropped her column during the "newspaper war" with the Arkansas Democrat. Both papers were trimming back on tradition to make room for jazzier features. In the end, of course, the Democrat won the newspaper war and the paper we have today is only a shadow of the once-great Gazette and Democrat.
