Attn Doyle Taylor re: Lt Col Elisha McMurtrey

Doyle,

Have any of you been down to Rison where LTC McMurtrey is buried right at the intersection of Hwy 35 and 167? When I lived there I could actually see his stone in the family plot from the road. Now it is a thicket. Just wondering. His cavalry saber is used by the local Masonic Lodge as the Tyler's. There looked to be about 4 or 5 stones and I went up to them once and there was his stone. It is a shame it is not kept up, thought I would pass it on to you, just in case your camp might be interested in it. He led the remnant of the 2nd Ark Cav which was in Crawford's Brigade during operations in 1864.
