The 1st (Dobbin's) Arkansas Cavalry participated in Price's Missouri campaign. It was assigned to Dobbin's Brigade of Fagan's Division, along with Witt's and McGehee's regiments and a section of artillery under command of Lieut. Jesse Vintner Zimmerman.

Due to the poor quality of the records of Dobbin's regiment, it's hard to tell exactly where most of the men were much of the time; however, the timeline is right for Sergeant Moore to have been on the Missouri campaign and returned to be captured in December 1864. After Price's campaign ended in late October 1864, Dobbin's command returned to eastern Arkansas, and continued its endless skirmishing in Phillips County and vicinity. They were certainly back on their home turf by December.

I've look through every resource I have, and can find no reference to a place called Marietta in northeast Arkansas, nor to any skirmish there. There was a lot of activity around Marianna, however. In fact, many of the men had enlisted at Marianna. It's possible that Sergeant Moore was from that part of Phillips County, and may have been captured while on furlough. I know that some of Dobbin's men were furloughed after returning from Missouri, due to a shortage of rations and forage.
