Re: Logan Hanging
In Response To: Logan Hanging ()

C. S. Logan enlisted 8 July 1862 at Ft. Smith, AR. in Co. A, 35th AR. Inf. Regt. Went AWOL 30 Dec. 1862 and was hung in Sebastian Co., AR. 20 July 1863. J.N. and Z.P. Logan were both in the 35th, but no indication that either one of them were hanged. J.N. (Jasper) and Z.P. (Zadock) Logan were probably brothers because they were 3 years difference in age, both enlisted at the same place and both were born in Lincoln Co., South Carolina. Don't know if they were any relation to C.S. Logan, the one who was hanged. He was born in Tillman Co., Georgia. Both Jasper N. and Zadock P. later enlisted in Co. F, 1st AR. Inf. Regt. USA (Union)Army 10 Sept. 1863, at Ft. Smith, AR. All this information came from the Edward G. Gerdes Civil War Home Pages.
