John Baker Thompson was a native of Amherst County, Virginia (born 1834) and was a resident of Little Rock when the war started. He was mortally wounded at Shiloh on April 6, 1862, and died two days later. After the war, his body was reinterred in Hollywood Cemetery at Richmond, Virginia.
