this is the first of postings from Merrill T. Pence's regimental history of Dawson's 19th Arkansas Infantry (1994). I am going to do things in reverse from the order he has them in his ~192 page manuscript. I am going to list the roster and the NOTES key he provides for each soldier, then will start posting excerpts.....

Below, in alphabetical order, are almost 1,300 names, men found to have served in the 19th Arkansas Infantry. Information supplied is name, age, company, rank, date of enlistment if known, important information and a final disposition if known.

*2 Transported by boat to the prison camp at St. Louis, Mo., arriving 1-22-63. Those left here were hospitalized, being sick or wounded.
