David, there is mention in the Arkansas Historical Quarterly, "Guerillas, Bushwackers and Jayhawkers in Northern Arkansas" Leo Huff, Springfield Missouri. I dont remember the volume #. I think it was from 1964. it mentions that Rutherford was captured with 6 of his men, at a placed called "Sugar Loaf Springs", it apparently was confirmed in another book,(if memory serves me "The New Union" was the footnoted source.) The author did not mention the Official Records as a source for that information. I hope this will give you another lead.
