I see you have profited from a good deal of information by the knowledgeable folks on this board.

I have some additional information reflecting on time and place references for the 3rd Arkansas cavalry that may be of interest to you. I extracted this from my very poor notes [on the Army of the West] taken at the National Archives many years ago.

Of course, there are many other such references to the regiment and its various parent organizations in the Official Records.

3/25 Van Dorn special orders-
Col S. Borland, 3rd Arkansas cavalry, to report in person to Gen Van Dorn at HQ

4/6/62 regiment left Pocahontas for Des Arc where dismounted

4/8 Special Order # 42 Des Arc-
Van Dorn orders all cavalry to be dismounted until further orders

4/15/62-Van Dorn's Special Orders issued at Des Arc:
Col Borland and his regiment to proceed to Memphis and report to Gen Price

4/24 Memphis-Van Dorn S O #64
-Par V-Private____of Capt Hobson's company of Col Borland's Arkansas cavalry regiment is discharged

Finally, a couple of comments on your previous posts:

Lumpkin's Mill, near Gernada, Miss
Lumpkins Mill was near Holly Springs not Grenada

left two divisions with Gen Price, in which 3rd Ark was in one, possibly in Bowen's Brigade
In this August reference, the 3rd Arkansas cavalry regiment was in Phifer's bgde. Later, the regiment was assigned to Bowen's division, Cravens' bgde after the Corinth battle in October.
