Thanks, Tom. That makes sense to me. I've only ever run across a very small handful of infantry regiments with twelve companies -- all formed very early in the war, and most of them were downsized to ten companies once the Confederate War Department got its act together. Only a few, for whatever reason, stayed at 12-company strength.
