Robert N. Ross, believed to be CSA

Hello. I am trying to learn which military group Robert N. Ross, born in Tennessee on Jan. 7, 1837 later served with during the Civil War. I have tried the Gerdes site and did not get a hit.
Ross' parents were Wm. and Cary Ross who were listed in Shelby County, Tennessee census in 1850 and 1860.
According to the information that has been discovered, Robert N. Ross was in Pulaski County by 1864 having been wounded at the Battle (?) of
Oak Hill.
This man became a doctor residing in what became Lonoke County. He was highly regarded and even served as a Methodist preacher toward the end of his life. His date of death is listed only as 1898.
I am assisting in the research of this person for the Lonoke County Museum. A truly nice photo and some information has been uncovered so far.
Thanks a bunch for suggestions or help.
