YUP...TWO CAPT. WASSONS IN 21ST ARK. INF. THERE...

Hi Jon -

Jerry and Victor Ponder (1995) list TWO Captain Wassons being surrendered at Jacksonport in June of 1865:

#5119 Wasson, J.M. Capt. Co. A 21st AR CAV REGT

#5120 Wasson, John W. Capt. Co. B 21st AR INF REGT

Not sure just how to interpret this; two different people or a Federal mistake in the parole process...???? Maybe Bryan can translate/interpret for us on this one...??

Think you can still get this book ("Confederate Surrender and Parole, Jacksonport and Wittsburg, Arkansas May and June, 1865" ISBN 0-9623922-4-3) via Camp Pope Bookstore or perhaps Two Trail Publishing (Trans-Mississippi book vendors). You can also try to contact Jerry Ponder at Ponder Books direct by phoning directory assistance in Mason, Texas and getting his home phone number.

y.o.s,

Kenneth Byrd*

*ggg-nephew of Pvt. James Simmons, Co. B, Fristoes MO Cav. and Pvt. William Bailey, Co. B, Fristoes MO Cav.; both also surrendered at Jacksonport, AR on June 5, 1865
