I provided information for one of the people who testified in protest at the City Council hearings. Many of the people killed in the great Chicgo fire of 1871 were also buried there. What had happened was that the county clerk's office "misplaced" the vital document in its records of the property, and the developer thus had no idea the property had been a cemetery. By the time the mistake was discovered, the mall had been completedand it was too late to do anything about it.
