Linda, below is a link to thread re: Camp Cumming. It was called that beginning in late 1862 when Gen. Alfred Cumming was in command of the troops stationed there, and apparently for some time thereafter. The 46th Tenn. Inf. was in Quarles' Brigade; see page 403 at the link below for troops in the Dept. of the Gulf during that time. Do you have letters or journals written by your husband's ancestor's during their time in Mobile?
