Hello Hoyt, and so good to hear from you - and glad to know that you are able to occupy your time with a pursuit that you obviously enjoy. Here is another account of the Battle of Wilson's Wharf. In it Wild is described as, "Tall, gaunt, and reddish-haired....", even though in that particular paragraph his name is misspelled as "Wilder". Given the original description, it would certainly seem that Wild qualifies as a probable suspect in several respects - brigade commander of USCTs, one-armed, and red-haired. That leaves him facing the 14th Alabama and being "shot down", as what we, so far, can't ascertain from the records.
