He has a CMSR in NARA Microcopy 331, "Compiled Service Records of Confederate General and Staff Officers and Non-regimental Enlisted Men", Roll 65, filed as A.H. Cresup, age 23. Spellings included Cresop and Cresap. It includes his parole signed at Montgomery as A.H. Cresap Jr. It also includes a discharge approved by Gen'l Bragg at Tupelo, in July 1862, from Captain J.M. Houston's Company (C) of the Pioneer Battalion of Confederate States Army. That discharge includes information regarding his original enlistment in the 12th Tenn. and states that he was born in Gibson County, Tenn, and was by occupation a carpenter.
