The Corinth correspondent of the Picayune says that Gen. L. P. Walker has resigned his command as Brigadier General in the army.

A son (Thomas) of Isaac Billingsley, was killed a few days ago at Ala., by the accidental discharge of a gun.

Thomas S. James, one of the oldest citizens of Mobile, is dead.

Leroy Pope Walker, the first CSA Secretary of War, lived most of his life in Huntsville, AL, where he is buried. He also lived in Lawrence County, AL, where he began his political career, and in Franklin County for a time. There is a historical marker dedicated to him in Moulton (Lawrence County), and in Madison County. After the War, he acheived more fame as a lawyer, and successfully represented Frank James for a bank robbery in North AL.
