If you are referring to the Patrick Ray in the 1st Battalion, Virginia Infantry, then no, he is not the same man as his dates overlap those of Patrick Ray in the 10th Cavalry, and he died early in the war. I don't see another Patrick Ray in a Virginia unit.
In order to get to the company records for Company H, 8th Ala. in Fold3, since you are not looking for an individual's record, you have to navigate through the site. Start on the home page and click Browse on the title bar. Then click the following in order: Civil War, Civil War Service Records, Confederate Records, Alabama, 8th Infantry. Near the top you will see "Unit Information" - click that and then go to page 115 to see the Record of Events for Company H that I referred to.
