Re: AL Regiment at Pensacola Naval Station

Wow, from 0 to 60 in nothing flat. Many thanks to all who put in their million pennies worth (up from 2 cents worth). The Opelika grave is the man. I wasn't sure that he died in 1884, despite an obit, a death notice, and material concerning his estate for that year. (To tell the truth, I'm still not sure but what he somehow faked his own death for whatever reason, as after 1884, I start picking up material on a notorious character and gambler named Col. "Lou" Betts [Lou always in quotes as nickname] who has connections with a few of Col. William H. Betts' locations.) Stay tuned, as I will continue to work on this.

I had hoped that this would turn out to be Mr. Krisman's man, as this fellow was fairly famous, and would make an interesting addition to his data base.

Thank you, Mr. Martin & Mr. Bryant.

I appreciate very much everyone who read my scribbles and responded to this thread. For those so interested, below are a few of the items I have come across on Col. William H. Betts, Company B, 13th Alabama.

With Regards to All,
