Re: Uniforming of troops late in war.

George,
My great great grandfather was William Marshal Funderburg. He left Camp Buckner in Talladega on April 13, 1864. He joined the 12th Alabama while encamped in Virginia. He served in Company D until his capture on July 10, 1864, after the Battle of Monacacy
He was sent first to Old Capitol Prison in Washington, and transferred to Elmira, where he died of Typhoid fever November 1, 1864. He is buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery on the prison grounds in Elmira.
He left a widow, and eight children, in St. Clair County, Alabama.
