Cook, Private, Company H. 38th Regiment Alabama Infantry, enlisted May 13, 1862** at Fort Gaines for 3 years or the war, paid re-enlistment bonus of $50, on 30 days sick furlough September 25 to october 24, 1863, paid $9.90 for commutation of rations, promoted Sergeant, no date, receipted for an issue of clothing April 14, 1864, paroled at Selma, Ala. June, 1865, resident of Wilcox County, Ala., his file contains correspondence between the Adjutant General, War Department with Mrs. C. E. Jackson, Jr., 850 Mandalay, Clearwater, Florida, dated November 17, 1953

Enoch Hooper Cook, Jr., Pvt., 38th Alabama Infantry

Private Enoch H. Cook who, with ten sons and two grandsons, served in the Confederate Army--possibly the largest number of soldiers furnished by one family. Of the 13, five were killed in action.
