Re: He was not an Alabama soldier

George, I see on his CMSR's on his last page for the 23rd Virginia Cavalry Battalion he was issued clothing on October 3, 1863 and the notation said since deserted.

He was found in the 1850 United States censes as living in Wyoming County, (West) Virginia.

Tazewell, Virginia located in Tazewell County, (just across the WVA and VA line had once been known as Jeffersonville, VA. I also see where he had been a teamster on parts of his CSMR's something I would except an older soldier to perform.

Putting all the pieces together I would say there is an excellent chance of him being the man in question. Especially since the other Daniel Perdew's /Perdue's seem to be accounted for.

However, we still lack a direct connection to him being in the 23rd BN VA. CAV. If circumstantial evidence would count I would say it's a match.

What do you show for a Robert Clark? He was a civilian who died at Chase.
