Lest We Forget....
Today is the 150th anniversary of Robert E. Lee surrendering the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Courthouse VA, thus effectively ending the bloodiest war in American history ("America's Holocaust" or as Ed Bearrs refers to it: "OUR war").
One of the surviving soldiers who was surrendered and paroled there on April 9, 1865 was Pvt. Elam Carr Hamilton, Co. F, 9th Alabama Infantry. Images and text regarding him can be seen at the following ALCWMB archived links accessed via:
