8th Alabama Infantry Regiment

Colonel Hilary Herbert's "History of the Eighth Alabama" mentions the following, "while Captain Fagan's diary is specific as to the important dates of battles and losses, as are also the historical memoranda made out on the 1st day of January, 1865, by Lieutenant Colonel Emrich,"

This reference is in The Alabama Historical Quarterly, Vol. 39, Nos. 01, 02, 03, & 04, 1977, CHAPTER XIV, The Wilderness to Petersburg, Page 140.

Captain Fagan was William L. Fagan, Company K, 8th Alabama. Lieutenant Colonel Emrich was John P. Emrich, who commanded the 8th Alabama at the surrender at Appomattox.

I checked with Alabama Department of Archives and History, and they do not believe they have either document in their collections.

Can anyone tell me where Fagan's diary or Emrich's historical memoranda may be found?

Thanks.
