Art...SCV 1610 will obtain your book for our use...we had 2 Real Sons, Arthur Reed and Bill Sager, both sons of James R. Reed until recent years. James R. Reed was a Creek Indian, both sons active in Porch Tribal affairs. His is a unique story. Family lore tells that Pvt. Reed entered the 21st as James Rudolph Reed. At some time he was captured and forced to carry piggyback a Federal officer with a leg wound. Reed observed a gully near the road side and when he came alongside the gully, Reed pitched the officer over his shoulders into the gully and made his escape. When explaining his actions upon reaching Confederate lines, Pvt. Reed exclaimed, "I throwed the officer into the gully and ranned off". From that day until death, Pvt. Reed was known as Randolph Reed. Our problem is that we find little documentation of Reed in the 21st yet we had two Real Sons and now a grandson in our camp. The family has records, old & tattered documents, that enabled entry into the SCv.
