There seems to be multiple reasons for not finding information on CMSR's or finding them at all. One of the more glaring examples are Moreland's Cavalry and the 55th Alabama. While it's true www.fold3.com has some of these soldiers many of them are not listed. While at the National Archives the last time around I looked on the micro-film records and there they were, just as fold 3 should have had them but does not. Specifically with Moreland's Cavalry it's surnames starting with A through G that fold 3 does not have that DC does have. And with the 55th Alabama fold 3 only has surnames starting with C through P yet DC has them all just as we would expect to find them on fold 3.

The above is one example but not my question. There are about ten to fifteen soldiers at Camp Chase who have death records but not their capture sites. While it's true they could be crossed with another soldiers records I am of the belief not all of them were. As an example I will list Asher Herron/Heron of Company K of the 10th Kentucky Cavalry and his records if we want to call them that are listed with the 9th&10 Kentucky Cavalry on fold 3. He only has a POW Record. Using ancestry POW Records specifically number (38787) it states he was taken prisoner at Murfreesboro, Tennessee on September 30, 1864 and died of pneumonia on February 24, 1865 and buried in grave 1418 at Camp Chase just as his POW death record shows at Chase.

With the exception of a cross over does anyone have any ideas why his enlistment records and Federal POW Records are not showing up on fold 3?
