Lewis M Cannon of Blount, AL

Hoping for some help on my gg grandfather's Confederate service record. His name is Lewis M Cannon and he lived in Blount County, AL.

I located him in two different outfits and cant figure out the chronological order. Part of the problem is that his records are listed several ways - L M Cannon, L M Carmon, Louis Cannon, Louis Canon, Lewis Cannon, etc.

Looks like he served in Co E 6th AL Cavalry but was sick (or wounded?) and spent Mar 6- June 7, 1864 in the hospital in Jackson, MS. Then he was admitted to the hospital in Macon, GA June 17 and transferred to a private home(?) June 18, 1864.

He is also shown as serving in 4th AL Militia (April 2 - June 25, 1862), and Brown's Cavalry (Barbiere's?) at parole. A relative places him in Co K 23rd AL but I cant find a record of that service.

Any help out there from someone who is better at deciphering these carded records would really be appreciated.

Best regards
Laura
