Tom--Elihu Wesley Watson to My Dear Brothers, July 10, 1863, Watson Family Papers, Manuscripts Division, South Caroliniana Library, University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina. I obtained a copy years ago. I know it has recently been posted in electronic form on their website. Another interesting one is Private William J. Underwood from the 4th Georgia who was shocked to find himself camped at the same school where several of his friends had graduated. "Little did I think when I heard them talking of college that I would ever see it," he declared with amazement in a letter to his brothers. At the same time, he had a decidedly mixed reaction to his first view of the main building. "The College is a very fine building though it is a very old one," he remarked. This is from William Jackson Underwood to My Dear Little Brothers, June 28, 1863, Underwood, Key Families Papers, Kenan Research Center, Atlanta History Center, Atlanta, Georgia. That one is also available online on their website.
