Not the same person. There are at least three young men named George Douglas living in Madison County in 1860 who could be the trooper in Russell's 4th Alabama Cavalry.

For George Douglas of Marengo County, age (38 in 1860) and family situation (wife and several small children) argue against an 1861-62 enlistment for him. Maybe he joined later in the war when the age limit was raised.
