Sarah his wife was living on her parents' farm in 1865 and in 1871 declared under oath (Southern Claims Commission) that in April 1865 she was a widow. So George Douglas had no opportunity to take any oath of allegiance to the U.S.; whether this man and the trooper of Co C, Russell's Cavalry, were the same man cannot be determined.
