The man I am looking for was born c1827, lived in Tuscaloosa County in 1850,, Marengo County in 1860. Sarah his wife was living on her parents' farm in 1865 and in 1871 declared under oath (Southern Claims Commission) that in April 1865 she was a widow. So George Douglas had no opportunity to take any oath of allegiance to the U.S.; whether this man and the trooper of Co C, Russell's Cavalry, were the same man cannot be determined.
