George - Back during the original discussion regarding A.C. Oxford, there was some discussion as to the source of his rank or "title". The attached file shows the organization of camps of the UCV in 1910. He is listed as Brigadier General Commanding the 4th Brigade of the Alabama Division at Birmingham. Obviously, as you stated, the photograph is from well after the war, and he is wearing the rank insignia of a UCV brigade commander.
