Hayes Lowe wrote in 2003:

“The only photograph that I found of him is what appears to be a wartime photograph. He wears one five-pointed star on each collar. His coat is of the lapel type, not the more familiar tunic collar type worn by most/many Confederate officers.”

I suspect that the photo described is a post war photo of an older gentleman “Gen. A. C. Oxford,” with beard wearing a non-CW type double breasted coat with a five star emblem on his collar. I believe this to be the photo of him noted in the Confederate Veteran obit of him, Vol. XXXIII [1925], p. 468 See below:

He also had service in:
"D" Co. CS 8th Cavalry

born 6/14/1841 in Pickens County, AL
died 9/30/1925 in Birmingham, AL
(Married: (1) Alethea Whitlow in 1868; (2) Fannie Spiva)
After the War he lived in Birmingham, AL
