descendants of Col. Charles T. Pollard

Of interest to any descendants of Colonel Charles Teed Pollard who may stumble across this post.....Colonel Pollard was a prominent Montgomery citizen who founded the Montgomery West Point Rail Road. He married Emily Virginia Scott, the daughter of the founder of the City of Montgomery, General John Scott. The Pollard family dates back to Colonial Virginia.

Colonel Pollard's son, 21 yr. old Lt. Joseph Pollard, Semple's (Goldthwaite's) Battalion Light Artillery, was severely wounded at Murfreesboro and died in the hospital there from his wounds on Jan. 5, 1863.

His lost headstone at the Old Nashville Cemetery was recently uncovered and an effort is underway to restore & re-set the marker. Cemetery officials want to hold a memorial service for Lt. Pollard when the headstone is re-set.

I'm sure the Cemetery would love to hear from any descendants of the Col. Charles Pollard family, particularly any who would like to attend the memorial service.
