The only cards in his record are prisoner of war records. They indicate that he was captured on May 16 or 17, 1863, at Champion Hill or Big Black (separate cards indicate both dates and both places), was sent to Memphis and then to Camp Morton, Indiana, and then to Fort Delaware, where he was exchanged on July 4, 1863.
