I have similar information about this man, but there is just not much recorded about him in the records I have been able to find.

I would like to make a few adjustments to the information you provided. I realize you provided the “official” information that is on file at the Alabama Department of Archives and History – that was created, I believe by Mr. Willis Brewer. Unfortunately, based upon the research I have done over the past several years, exclusively on this regiment, the official records have some errors - in my opinion.

Of the information you provided, the following are the errors I have found.

1. The 14th Alabama Infantry Regiment did NOT fight on June 26, 1862 at Mechanicsville. They did fight on June 27, 1862 first in the morning at Ellerson’s Mill (more of a skirmish) and then in the afternoon at Gaines’s Mill (where they suffered the highest casualties of all the battles they fought during the entire war).
2. The 14th Alabama did NOT fight on July 1, 1862 at Malvern Hill.
3. The battle the regiment fought on May 3, 1863 was at “Salem Church”, during the Chancellorsville Campaign.

You have a typo in the January, 1862 Regimental Return. They were at “Camp Winder” near Richmond, Virginia.

I am working on a book about this regiment that I hope to publish in a few years. I have created an updated version of the "official" history of the Regiment, that I will include in the book. If anyone has any information about the regiment that they would like to share, I would appreciate any help I can get.
